The weather was beautiful this weekend, with temperatures reaching into the eighties. The sun provided a much-needed break from recent stormy weather, reminding us that summer is just around the corner.
On Saturday, Prospect Park was packed with thousands attending the Great Googa Mooga, a food festival of epic proportions. The festival featured food and drink from some of the citys best restaurants, as well as amazing demonstrations by culinary greats like Anthony Bourdain and Tom Colicchio.
The festival was the perfect way to kick off the summer season, drawing crowds to the amazing oasis for hours of gluttonous enjoyment, on a day that could have not have been more sunny or perfect.
Prospect Park is not new to the foodie game, with tons of events taking place every year in its beautiful spaces. Every third Sunday of the month, the park plays host to a food truck rally at Grand Army Plaza. The rally brings together some of the citys most delectable treats on wheels, and reminds us that sometimes the best food is the kind that comes on a stick.
In local culinary news, Bay Ridge restaurants are gearing up for the new season with refreshed menus and happy hours to accompany longer daytime hours. On Saturday, May 26, Jamie Lynns Kitchen will hold a Springtime Favorites event to preview some amazing new menu items.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. and will include a host of amazing warm weather wine pairings. The Kitchens ever-evolving and original menu is set to become even more mouth-watering this summer, and the event will offer enticing new dishes such as beef sliders with goat cheese and balsamic roasted pears and mussels with fennel and sweet onions. Each wine will be paired with a two-item plate, expertly matched for taste.
