POLICE BEAT: 68th and 72nd Precincts

68th Precinct

Between Sunday, June 17 and Sunday, June 24, the 68th Precinct received reports of two burglaries, one assault and one grand larceny. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton and Dyker Heights.

CONSTRUCTION BUNGLE

A worker arrived at his construction site on Shore Road near 80th Street on Thursday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. and noticed that two construction trailers were missing a laptop, a wi-fi transmitter and a camera, worth $2,700. The worker said that both trailer doors were locked and forced open to gain entry.

MATTRESS MUGGER

On Wednesday, June 20 at 3:40 p.m., a 23-year-old white Hispanic male discovered that an unknown person had entered his Third Avenue apartment and taken $1,500 from underneath his mattress.

DERANGED KNIFEMAN

Police are searching for a 25-year-old white Hispanic male, 5’10”, weighing 185 lbs. with blonde crew-cut hair and medium skin, wearing jogging clothes, for allegedly stabbing a 47-year-old white Hispanic male inside his Fourth Avenue shop on Sunday, June 24 at 12:01 a.m.

The victim said the perp entered his store, which is near 68th Street, and asked for a cigarette and some water. When he went to get the water, the perp reportedly put a 13-inch knife with a gray and black handle and an 8-inch blade to his neck and said, “I’ll f—- kill you.” As the victim defended himself, he was cut on both of his hands, causing deep lacerations and nearly severing his right index finger.

A 32-year-old white male happened to be waiting for his wife at the train station and saw the perp flee with the knife, which was recovered in front of an adjacent store. The witness gave chase, but did not succeed.

WALLET SWIPE

Police are searching for a 5’9”, partially bald white male wearing black shorts and a white tank top for allegedly taking a 35-year-old female’s black Guess wallet from a folding table in a store on Fifth Avenue near 89th Street on Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. The wallet contained a Social Security card, insurance cards, debit and credit cards, a driver’s license and $620 in cash.

72nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 27, the 72nd Precinct received reports of one burglary, two assaults, two gang assaults, one count of criminal mischief, one petit larceny, one grand larceny, one auto theft, one count of menacing, one burglary and one count of reckless endangerment. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, South Park Slope, Greenwood Heights and Windsor Terrace.

SUMMER STRIKES

Police are searching for a 5’5” white Hispanic male, weighing 160 lbs., with short black hair and a light complexion, wearing black jeans and a black tank top, for allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old white Hispanic male on Wednesday, June 20 at 4 a.m. on Fourth Avenue near 58th Street.

The victim states that the perp kicked and punched him numerous times in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, resulting in lacerations, bleeding and swelling to his face and head. The perp allegedly fled into a building on the block; police are unable to gain entry to it at this time.

On Tuesday, June 19 at 10:51 p.m., a 25-year-old black female states that a friend punched her in the face, causing swelling and pain inside a 50th Street building’s hallway. The victim refused to press charges or file a report and was uncooperative at the scene.

Police arrested 10 white and Hispanic white males, whose ages range from 18 to 37, for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old white Hispanic male on Tuesday, June 26 at 8:30 p.m. on the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and 44th Street.

The victim was reportedly involved in an altercation with the perps, who are known gang members according to the police, and suffered a deep laceration to his right arm by a knife. The perps attempted to flee in a 1999 black Jeep.

WALLET LIFT

On Wednesday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m., police arrested a 33-year-old white Hispanic male for allegedly reaching into a 69-year-old Hispanic white male’s pocket, removing his wallet, after the victim refused to give him money, on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street.

ROUGH ROOMMATE

Police arrested a 29-year-old Asian male for allegedly menacing his 28-year-old roommate inside their 56th Street apartment on Wednesday, June 27 at 12:10 a.m.

The perp reportedly displayed the sharp end of a pair of scissors at the victim, after they argued about the perp leaving the residence at the end of the month.

MANIAC MOTORIST

Police arrested an 18-year-old Hispanic white male on Saturday, June 23 at 6:40 p.m. for allegedly weaving in and out of traffic, cutting off other vehicles and crossing the double solid line on his motorized bike on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 50th Street. The perp also reportedly ran red lights and nearly hit a pedestrian.

PHONE SWIPE

Police arrested a 15-year-old white Hispanic male on Thursday, June 21 at 4 p.m. for allegedly removing an iPhone from a 15-year-old white Hispanic male’s hand on the northwest corner of Third Avenue and 53rd Street.

GRAFFITI GANGSTER

A 16-year-old black Hispanic male was arrested on Tuesday, June 19 at 8:53 p.m. for allegedly making graffiti on a white 2006 tractor trailer parked on the southwest corner of Second Avenue and 52nd Street.
