Muffin’s Pet Connection: Week of September 27

EMERGENCY — My cat Calvin has been missing since early Wednesday, September 19. I have gotten a couple of responses from people saying they think they’ve seen him (on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning) in the neighborhood.

“He lives on 14th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues but may have wandered further away. Someone said she thinks she saw him at 10th Street and Eighth Avenue.

“I have posted flyers around. Please keep your eyes out for my guy! He is wearing a white collar that has pictures of red yellow and blue robot heads on it. He also has a bell on his collar and a silver tag that has his name and my phone number on it. If you see him, please let me know! Thank you. — Kori (718-673-0931 or 718-399-1915)

HEY JUDE: These are my feelings regarding Icis, a three-year-old dog who has never been walked. Her heartbreaking situation appeared in your column on September 6, 2012. I do not understand how someone could take a large breed dog like this and keep it in the house. She said that it NEVER goes out.

“It is essential that big dogs be walked. It is essential that ALL dogs be walked, for that matter. It is important not only for their physical health but their mental health as well. Dogs need to be stimulated by the things that they see and smell outside.

“Further, I do not understand why a person who lives in public housing that clearly prohibits Pits, Pit mixes or any dogs over 20 pounds would even get such a dog in the first place. I hope that someone who is equipped to handle this dog and give it the care that it needs adopts it.” — A very concerned Animal Lover in Dyker Heights.
