L Furs: High quality at low prices

L Furs has been on New Dorp Lane for nearly four decades and it’s easy to see why.

Owner Robert Cosumano started his career as a furrier when he was 16 years old. Back then, he said that 85 percent of furs exported across the country were made right in Manhattan in what was known as the “Fur District” on Seventh Avenue.

Forty one years later, Cosumano is still handling and designing the highest quality furs. Today, his inventory is imported from Milan, Paris, Frankfurt and Montreal.

Although his product is high-end, it does not mean that prices are.

Besides offering a selection of designer furs, leather with fur trim and shearlings, Cosumano also does remodeling, something he takes very seriously.

“I always want to do the right job. When you take shortcuts, you start losing money,” he explained, adding that 90 percent of work is done in house. “I invest all my time and do it the right way. This way when it’s done, the customer loves it and I have no headaches with an unhappy customer.”

L Furs also offers fur storage in a refrigerated, climate-controlled vault.
