Muffin’s Pet Connection: Week of December 20

WOOF WOOF: Merry Christmas — Hi my name is Hope. I am a beautiful, one-year-old, golden Shepherdmix. I need a home with a backyard because I like to play. I am energetic and get along with dogs and children. I also know that going to the bathroom in the house is wrong which is why I do it outside.

“I have seen the vet a few times; he gave me all my shots so that I will not get sick. I am also fixed, so I can’t have any babies. Unfortunately, due to changes in my mommy’s work situation, she is unable to provide the attention and time that I really need. Pleasecall 347-634-2691 and mention Muffin’s. Thank you and God Bless!

BANG, BANG, ON THE HOOD OF YOUR CAR– WINTER ALERT: In cold/cool weather, cats seek out heat. A favorite place is a warm car/truck engine. They climb up under the car hood onto the engine for the heat (possibly near the radiator which stays warm for a while) and fall asleep there. Often, cats are sleeping soundly when the car is started.

If you start your car without banging on the hood first, they can and have been, ripped apart by the engine fan because they are lying near the fan or they try to jump off near the fan. Please MAKE A BIG RUCKUS ON YOUR HOOD before getting in the car to start your engine, and give them a few seconds to wake up and evacuate. You may save a life. This is true for suburban/country cats and city cats. They all like being warm.

KEEP YOUR CATS SAFE… Tinsel-less: Kitties love this sparkly, light-catchingtoy that is easy to bat around and carry in their mouths. But, a nibble can lead to a swallow, which can lead to an obstructed digestive tract, severe vomiting, dehydration and possible surgery.

It is best to brighten your holiday decorations with something other than tinsel. MUFFIN’S hangs a beautiful faux Christmas wreath decorated with sparkling colored lights, out of reach for our four inquistive cats. DaJammer kitties, PeggySue, Calay, Mouse and Squeaky mee-oow warm, loving and fun wishes for a purrfect holiday, now and always.

Peace, Purrs ‘n Merry Christmas!
