The Red Hook Library will reopen on April 2

The Red Hook Public Library will have its grand reopening on Tuesday, April 2!

At 1 p.m., the doors will reopen at 7 Wolcott Place after over four months of being out of commission as a library, although it served as a warming center and relief hub for the thousands of local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

A Bookmobile van has been used as a temporary library resource for months, parking outside the library most days and offering limited books and activities for children.

The 7,500 square-foot, one-story brick library has sat at its current location for over 35 years, after a fire in 1945 destroyed the previous building on Visitation Place — a Carnegie library built in the Mediterranean Revival style.
