More options for shoppers at expanded Foodtown

A second floor dedicated to health food is the piece de resistance of the newly enlarged Foodtown, which cut the ribbon on its expansion on March 15 with help from local elected officials, staff and local activists.

The supermarket, at Third Avenue and 91st Street, is 30 percent larger than it had been and now offers Ridgeites “an expanded fruit and vegetable department, an expanded deli and bakery, an expanded meat department and a brand new seafood department,” says owner Noah Katz, as well “more checkout lanes so we can get customers out quicker.

“But,” he added, “the most exciting part of the store is the second floor health food store,” which said Katz, includes “a wide variety of health food, organic food, vitamins and supplements.” Among the offerings are frozen organic food as well as dairy organic food, Katz noted.

“We are thrilled to serve the residents of Bay Ridge and the surrounding area,” Katz stressed. “We are so happy for the opportunity to renovate the store and so thankful for out hard-working staff who do such a great job taking care of our customers.”
