Muffin’s Pet Connection: Spooks needs a home

HEY JUDE: MEEEEEOW MEEEEEOW. I am SPOOKS, a laid-back, lap-loving, 10-year-old honey of a cat. My unusual Picasso-like markings and remarkable good nature make me who I am – a loving doll.

“I am mostly white, with black highlights unevenly splashed on my firm male body. My black nose really pops, matching the splotch under my chin and my tail. I am good tempered, well-behaved, handsome and modest too.

“My dad takes me to the vet periodically, and I am up-to-date with vaccinations, and of course, I am neutered. When I first found my way to Sal’s home, I stayed mostly outside or in his garage, while he tried to locate my owner. But he never did.

“Eventually, he took me into his house. I am shattered; after four years of living together, he has developed a severe allergy to me. We are very sad, but, please, I do not want to die in a shelter. I need a new friend and a home now. Time is behind me.

“If you know anyone who can provide a home and a lap, or if you have any suggestions on where I might be able to go, please call Sal at 917-816-5882.

“Meowingly yours, Spooks.

DEAR JUDE: “HELP SPREAD THE WORD: I am an avid reader of your informative column and I do take action whenever I read about animals suffering. The horrible plight of the lion becoming dinner at some restaurants turned my stomach. I called that restaurant and expressed my repulsion, and was told that they received so many complaints, lion was being removed from their menu.

“And now this… Ringling Bros. is finally exposed — they are torturing and beating their elephants and forcing them to perform using whips, chains and bull hooks. I am outraged and deeply hurt by the cruelty that God’s magnificent elephants endure. There is video evidence and never-before-seen photos of Ringling’s treatment of its elephants.

“This goes against God and nature and is wrong, horribly wrong! Please call 1-855-548-7625 and express your feelings about this harmful treatment to one of the most magnificent creatures on earth. Be a voice for our elephant friends.

“Thank you. Ernest B., Bay Ridge.”
