Russia comes to Brooklyn in “Swan Lake” at Kingsborough

With a few tickets left, “Swan Lake” is expected to mesmerize, captivate and mystify the minds of everyone who goes see it.

Consider yourself lucky because now you know of the arrival of The Moscow Festival Ballet, which will be performing at Kingsborough College on April 20—a grand opportunity you certainly cannot miss.

The magical performance, presented by 50 ballet dancers from Russia, including stars from both the Bolshoi and Kirov ballets, is a major presentation that “doesn’t come very often,” explained Anna Becker, executive director of On Stage at Kingsborough.

Considered one of the greatest classical ballets of all time, the romantic tale tells the story of a princess named Odette turning into a swan because of an evil sorcerer’s curse, in a production that will take your breath away. The enchanting story follows a young prince as he tries to free the beautiful swan maiden from the spell.

“They are coming here and leaving,” explained Becker of the dance company, adding that On Stage at Kingsborough is definitely very proud of the exclusiveness of the engagement, since the group will not be touring around any other part of the borough.

“We continue our tradition of presenting exclusive Brooklyn engagements of some of the world’s most acclaimed dance companies in an intimate setting,” Becker affirmed.

The full-scale production has four sets and a “quite grand” presentation filled with colorful costumes and excitement to complement the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.

“We are expecting very close to sold out,” Becker concluded. “With ‘Swan Lake,’ people feel they should see it several times in their lifetimes,” she said. Now is the time to make it happen.
