Smile for the camera: Photo contest winners are honored

The focus was on a group of talented local residents, as the Bay Ridge Community Council honored the winners of its annual photography contest during the group’s April meeting.

Gathered in the auditorium at Holy Angels Academy, BRCC members applauded the eight shutterbugs – five area students and three adults – whose images were selected by a panel of judges as this year’s best photos.

The contest was sponsored by The Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator

In the student category, Nicholas Constantinesco, an eighth grader at Genesis at Xaverian, snagged the gold award with his photo of the pond at Poly Prep.

Two students were selected as silver award winners: Ariana Frisella, a fifth grader at St. Bernadette School, for her photo of Ceasar’s Bay, and Luke Conigliaro, a fifth grader at P.S. 204, for his photo of a Native American powwow.

The student bronze level winners were both fifth graders at P.S. 102 – Sofia Wheeler with her picture of Street Trees and Connor Cheung, who entered his photo of a reflective chrome auto bumper.

On the adult level, the winners were Bosco Kwan, whose photo of Washington Square Park earned him a gold level award; Angela Bugatti, whose Manhattan Bridge black and white image snagged her the silver award; and Thomas Bata, whose color photo of the Manhattan Bridge won the bronze award.
