LICH staff are reportedly jumping ship amid the hospital’s uncertain future

The last year of tumult for Long Island College Hospital (LICH) has resulted in the loss of medical staff and several high-level executives, reported Crain’s Health Pulse.

Among those who have left are John Byrne, former chief operating officer, and Diana Sullivan, former chief administrative officer, both of whom joined Brookdale Hospital last week. Departing staff includes psychiatrists, social workers and medical records employees.

The news comes as another blow to the hospital and its supporters, who on April 26, month celebrated a small victory when hospital owner SUNY Downstate withdrew its closure plan for the 155-year-old community hospital. However a closure plan could be introduced again and no decision has yet been made on what to do with and how to fund the hospital.
