POLICE BEAT: 68th Precinct Blotter

68th Precinct

Between Sunday, May 12 and Sunday, May 19, the 68th Precinct received reports of one robbery, one auto theft, three burglaries and two grand larcenies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

THREATENING THIEF

On Thursday, May 16 at 7:50 p.m., a 21-year-old white Hispanic female took cash out of an ATM on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 86th Street and entered a location across the street where a Hispanic male ran up to her and demanded her bag. When she refused, he displayed a knife with a silver blade and black tape on the handle and said, “Don’t make me hurt you.” The creep took her purse, containing debit and credit cards, a library card, Social Security card and $500 in cash, fleeing northbound on Fifth Avenue.

SAFE STEAL

A female living on 92nd Street near Gatling Place told police on Tuesday, May 14 that she had a small Sentry safe in her bedroom, which has access to a rear balcony with an un-lockable door. Sometime during the day on Friday, April 26, someone entered through the balcony and took the safe, containing $108,400 worth of jewelry and $1,750 in cash.

CASH COW

On Monday, May 13 at 2 a.m., someone entered a restaurant located on Fourth Avenue and 91st Street via the front kitchen door. They removed $6,150 in cash and remained in the location for about 15 minutes before exiting through the same door. There is no visible damage to the door.

RANDOM ROBBER

A 53-year-old white male left his home on 64th Street near 14th Avenue on Friday, May 17 at 6 a.m. to go to work. When he returned, the rear window was wide open and objects were moved around the house. Upon further investigation, he discovered that a shopping cart, a gray safe, a birth certificate, military documents and yellow gold rings worth $100 were missing. The victim said that he did leave the window unlocked.

DESIGNER DEAL

A 24-year-old white female told police that on Saturday, May 18 at 1:45 a.m., her boyfriend parked his car on Third Avenue near 89th Street. Someone entered the car and took her purse, wallet, designer sunglasses, makeup, debit and credit cards and headphones worth $1,570. One of her credit cards was used at three locations within the confines of the 68th Precinct in the following hours.

BIG SMASH

On Wednesday, May 15 at 12:30 a.m., a 27-year-old Asian male returned to his white 2010 Nissan Altima parked on Fifth Avenue near 65th Street to discover that his driver’s side window was broken. Someone reached in and took $300 in cash and a diamond ring worth $800.

HOT WHEELS

A 56-year-old Asian male parked his 2009 gray Honda Accord on Seventh Avenue near 80th Street on Sunday, May 19 at 10:30 p.m. to make a delivery. When he returned, he found broken glass at the scene, but no vehicle.
