Brooklyn filmmakers to show their work on “The Big Screen”

Head to Art of Brooklyn Film Festival’s (AOBFF) “The Big Screen” this summer and support fellow Brooklynites on their road to fame.

This is The Big Screen’s inaugural year as a month-long event centered around various Brooklyn indie film series.

“We are excited to do the first one we hope to get a good reception,” said Anthony DeVito, who explained that the selection process for this festival is completely independent of AoBFF. The participants are chosen by local film festivals and AoBFF serves as the host for the event, responsible for getting the word out and expanding the amount of viewers.

“We partnered with independent film series that screen in smaller Brooklyn venues like back of bars and we have worked to increase their audiences by showing their films in larger theaters,” said DeVito. “We brought them (smaller film festivals) all together and put them under our banner.”

• “Under the Bus”  Saturday August 17, 6 p.m.
• “Married and Counting” Sunday August 18, 6 p.m.
• “Smorgasbord of Shorts” Friday August 23, 8 p.m.
• “The Motivation” Saturday August 24, 7:30 p.m.
• “I’m not me” Sunday August 25, 6 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at http://thebigscreen-aobff.eventbrite.com/ for $10 or at the door for $12.

The festival will take place at the St. Francis College’s Founders Hall and Maroney Theaters located at 180 Remsen Street.

AoBFF is a nonprofit organization that promotes the art and culture of Brooklyn by screening films inspired by Brooklyn and showcasing films made by Brooklynites. They hold their own annual film festival in March where filmmakers submit their work directly to the organization.
