Brooklyn artists in need of funding assistance can now get tips and information on how to apply for a 2014 Community Arts Grant through the Brooklyn Arts Council.

Information seminars run from August 13 through September 11 and include:

  • an overview of the year’s grant opportunities
  • an explanation of the application process
  • tips on writing a successful grant application
  • a Q&A session
  • a networking opportunity with BAC staff and other applicants

There is approximately $350,000 available to Brooklyn artists and organizations working across the artistic spectrum. There are four types of grants available: Community Arts Fund, Local Arts Support, JPMorgan Chase Regrant and the Arts Education Partner Grant.

Application seminars for the Community Arts Fund and Local Arts Support grants begin on Thursday, August 13, at 4 p.m. at the Washington Irving Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library in Bushwick.

Seminars continue August 15 at ARTs East New York, August 21 at the Sunset Park Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library and August 24 at The Actors Fund Art Center in Downtown Brooklyn.

Anyone applying for the Arts Education Partner Grant is required to attend a seminar. Attendance is also required for those who haven’t received BAC grant funding in the last two years. These seminars will take place in October.
