The bard is back in Bay Ridge.
Act-Out Acting School will be collaborating with Narrows Botanical Garden to present the classic Shakespearian comedy, “As You Like It,” at NBG, located at the corner of 70th Street and Shore Road.
The setting is especially apt as the play is set in the pastoral Forest of Arden.
Directed by Carolyn Dellinger, the play will feature “an outstanding cast –composed of an electric mix of seasoned professionals from Manhattan and Brooklyn, along with a few of Act-Out’s promising Shakespeare students,” explained John Stillwaggon, the artistic director of the school, who called the upcoming performance a “unique production.”
The performance is scheduled for four dates, beginning on Saturday, July 20, at 6 p.m. Other dates are Sunday, July 21, at the same time; Saturday, July 27 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, July 28 at 6 p.m.
But, the production isn’t staged in Elizabethan times. “Set in the late 19th century in France,” continued Stillwaggon, “the lush costumes and the beauty of the gardens [will] paint a picture that is splendid to behold..
“Come join us on this unforgettable journey through the woods,” Stillwaggon concluded.
The third installment of the collaboration between Act-Out and NBG, dubbed Shakespeare in the Park, is clearly set to enchant.
A $10 donation is suggested, and those planning to attend are welcome to bring blankets and/or a light chairs to enjoy the show.
Don’t miss Shakespeare’s classic comedy of mistaken identity, and true love, lost and found, performed by talented Brooklynites who love what they do.
