Irish eyes were smiling in Coney during the Great Irish Fair

For well over 20 years, the Great Irish Fair of New York (GIF) has been a staple of Brooklyn

Culture, courtesy of the Brooklyn chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Last weekend, September 14 and 15, it returned to Coney Island, bringing crowds to enjoy the taste of Irish culture that is the event’s specialty.

This year, the celebration of New York City’s Irish-American heritage and culture that burst onto the Brooklyn scene in 1982 included the Annual  5k Run/Walk, local Irish bands performing both contemporary and classic music, food, dancing and rides.

Proceeds benefit the Futures in Education Scholarship Fund of the Brooklyn Diocese.
