68th Precinct welcomes new executive officer

There was warm applause at the 68^th Precinct Community Council’s October meeting, as commanding officer Deputy Inspector Richard DiBlasio introduced the precinct’s new executive officer.

Captain Joseph Haywood comes to the precinct – which covers Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton — from the 75^th Precinct in East New York, where he served as a lieutenant. Prior to that, he was a sergeant in the housing police station in Queensbridge, and a police officer in the 109^th Precinct in Queens. He has been a member of the NYPD since 1998.

“I am happy to be here,” Haywood told the crowd gathered at the station house, 333 65^th Street. “I hope I can be an asset to the Bay Ridge community.”
