Beauty Talk: Global beauty

Once a year, the amazing beauty industry brings artists together from all over the world under one roof to show off what they have mastered and put together for the coming year.

This October, the event, sponsored by the global leader in color, Goldwell, was held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. It is not only exciting traveling to this event in different parts of the world every year (the 2012 event was in London and the 2014 event will be in Berlin) but we’re able to meet talented individuals from all over and get to share their vision, and celebrate the passion we all share for this wonderful industry.

The talent that is brought together in one place is simply amazing. Each year, there is a different theme for each night of the event. The first night was called Hollywood Glam. We had a red carpet event and we all got to dress up in our finest red carpet attire.

The winners of the Talent Competition were announced on the second night (the USA won the gold in the master category, and I was extremely excited and proud for that).

KMS, which is a partner with Goldwell, had a night of fun and fashion for us at the Belasco Theater. The theme was Urban Cool. We all got to dress and express ourselves in urban cool attire and party the night away.

As much fun as the parties were, the event brought something else to the people who attended. It reminded them of what a wonderful industry they belong to and how lucky they are to work at something they really love. The creativity we saw not only at the Talent Competition but from the attendees of the event really gets you to see what we, as hairstylists and colorists, are intended to do.

This means not just having our clients coming in to get a haircut or coloring, but what we, as artists, can offer them such as ideas on how to incorporate the look that they prefer.

From everyday living to going out for a night out on the town or a special occasion, we want our clients to know it’s about them. It’s about the look you want for that special night whether it’s Hollywood Glam, Halloween Fright Night, a Wedding or just a decision to change your look all together.

The greatest thing about being in this industry is the chance to go in any direction you want. I love this industry, I love hair, I love changes, and I love to create the new you.

Until next time remember, look your best… Feel your best… But, most of all, love yourself.
