The 4th Annual Coney Island Children’s Halloween Parade was a resounding success, with beautiful weather greeting the hundreds of families from across Brooklyn and NYC who gathered at MCU Park on Saturday, October 26, to embark on the costumed festivities up the Coney Island Boardwalk to Luna Park, where free rides awaited them.

“Fun,” “Coney Island,” “costumes,” rides,” exclaimed children and parents when asked about their favorite aspect of the parade.

“It’s her favorite holiday and [we wanted to] experience Halloween this year at the park,” said Bella Pochtar of Brighton Beach, who was dressed as Elmira from the Addams Family, while her daughter Shoshanna, 11, wore a creative pastel Mad Hatter costume, and son Maximillian, 13, came as a zombie clown.

“I love to scare people,” said Shoshanna. “I like to fall into character.”

The festivities included live music by the Jambalaya Brass Band, on-site magicians and face-painting, snacks, and a Halloween Costume Contest.

The parade was hosted by the Alliance for Coney Island and Councilmember Domenic Recchia, and produced by Coney Island USA.
