A folk remedy that works to ease the discomfort is to mix one teaspoon of baking soda and one teaspoon of water, mixed into a paste.Place on the sore and leave for a a minute or two. Spit out and swish with water. Initially, it may sting, but the baking soda will take away the pain. An alternative is to mix the solution as a gargle and hold in the mouth for a minute or two. Please consult your doctor if you are ill or on any medication.
