Police Beat: 68th and 62nd Precinct blotters

68th Precinct

Between Monday, December 16 and Saturday, December 21, the 68th Precinct received reports of three burglaries and two grand larcenies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

STEALTHY SUSPECT

On Monday, December 16 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., an unknown perpetrator entered through an unknown entrance of a residence near Third Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue. The suspect made off with miscellaneous jewelry, watches and over $200 in currency. There were no signs of forced entrance.

BACKEND BANDIT

On Monday, December 16 between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. an unknown perpetrator entered through the rear window of a residence near 86^th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway. The suspect made off with one gold bracelet and $1,000 before exiting through the rear door.

LOCK BOX LOOTER

On Monday, December 16 between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 9 p.m. an unknown perpetrator entered through the rear basement door of a residence near 13^th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway. The suspect made off with miscellaneous jewelry with an estimated worth of $22,000 from inside a locked lock box.

ROUGH RIDE

Between the hours of 5 p.m. Monday, December 16 and 12 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, an unknown perpetrator removed four rims and four tires from a 2011 Dodge Challenger parked near 92^nd Street and Shore Road. The suspect’s steals totaled $3,000 in car parts.

QUICK SNATCH

On Saturday, December 21, between the hours of 4:22 and 4:30 p.m. a man parked his motor vehicle in front of a mechanic shop for repair.

Once parked, the victim placed a bag holding approximately $3,000 on the sidewalk when an unknown male perpetrator removed the bag and fled the scene. The victim had just collected payments from various restaurants in the area.

62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 19, the 62^nd Precinct received reports of one robberies, two felony assaults, four burglaries and four grand larcenies. The 62^nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

HOUSE BURGLARIES

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 18, someone broke into a home on Shore Parkway near Bay 41^st Street and stole $3,000 in cash plus jewelry from the 57-year-old female resident, said police, who discovered damage to the rear window and door.

The 29-year-old resident of an apartment on West Seventh Street near Avenue P returned home on Wednesday, December 18 to discover his previously locked front door open and $150 in electronics stolen, said police.

A house-sitter returned to her employer’s house on 23^rd Avenue near 86^th Street on Saturday, December 14 to find that someone had broken in and stolen $100 in cash and $1,500 in electronics, police said.

HUSBAND HITS

Police are searching for the husband of a 26-year-old woman who reported that he had punched her in the forehead, kicked her in the stomach, pulled her hair and cut her arm with a knife during an argument in their Bensonhurst home late on Thursday, December 19. The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

BAR BRAWL

A 26-year-old Williamsburg man told police he was at a bar on 86^th Street and 24^th Avenue on Sunday, December 15, when around six white males assaulted another man for refusing to leave and then beat him up when he protested. The victim was reportedly hit with a closed fist and a billy club, resulting in cuts to his head and lip, and five teeth knocked out.

GADGET HEIST

Two employees of an electronics store on 86^th Street were allegedly ordered into a back room at gunpoint by three suspects while the store was robbed of $1,800 in cash plus electronics on Thursday, December 19, said police. One employee was reportedly hit in the neck with a silver gun. Witnesses said the suspects were wearing masks, sunglasses and scarves to conceal their identity, and fled with a luggage bag on wheels.

MISSING GIRL

The New York City Police Department is still searching for 25-year-old Caressa Jett, a missing person within the confines of the 88th Precinct. Jett is described as black female, 5’4, 130 pounds and was last seen leaving her residence on Cumberland Walk Friday, December 20 at approximately 4 p.m. She was wearing a black jacket, gray pants, white sneakers and a pink sweater.

AWESOME ARREST

On Thursday, December 19 just past midnight in the confines of the 67^th Precinct, Police Officers Raymond Higgins and John Hoder, assigned to the Brooklyn South Anti-Crime Unit, observed a grey 2012 Dodge Charger traveling at high speed eastbound at the intersection of Cortelyou Road and East 29^th Street.

The vehicle was then observed by the officers passing through a steady red light at Cortelyou Road and New York Avenue. The officers conducted a car stop of the vehicle at Cortelyou Road and East 42^nd Street. During the stop, the driver opened the glove compartment to retrieve the vehicle’s registration, at which time the Higgins and Hoder observed a firearm.

The occupants were placed under arrest without further incident. Subsequent to the stop, the officers found 42 stolen Apple products, one stolen Microsoft X-Box One, nine Apple iTunes cards and 39 forged gift cards. The firearm was a .32 caliber revolver. Following an ongoing investigation, two additional firearms were recovered from other locations.

The three suspects were given various charges including Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Forged Instrument, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and more. One suspect was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
