Sandy-damaged River Cafe to reopen full dinner service tonight

Fifteen months after being submerged beneath chest-high floodwaters from Superstorm Sandy and almost six months after a limited reopen for breakfast and private events, DUMBO’s popular River Café will return with a full dinner menu tonight, February 7.

According to owner Michael “Buzzy” O’Keeffe, the 36-year-old eatery features a new kitchen with new appliances and equipment, storm-resistant construction, a new piano and new tables, chairs and other details. Insurance, plus millions of dollars of O’Keeffe’s own savings were invested into the necessary repairs and keeping his executive chefs on the payroll during the rebuilding.

The River Café opened in a limited capacity in August, 2013, serving a new breakfast menu in the 70-seat Terrace Room, which has a smaller kitchen that operated while the main repairs continued.

RSVP now at OpenTable for a seat just in time for the return of spring–perfect weather to enjoy the views from Brooklyn Bridge Park!
