Thousands welcome return of Summer Stroll on Third

It was the perfect night for a stroll through the neighborhood and that’s exactly what thousands of Bay Ridge residents and their friends did on Friday, July 18 during the return of Summer Stroll on Third.

Business owners, many of them members of the Third Avenue Merchants Association, embraced the local tradition by setting tables up for outdoor dining and shopping and pulling out all the stops to make the experience a fun and welcoming one for families and friends alike.

The street was also transformed into a stage as community arts groups performed live music and theater skits for the gathered diners and shoppers. The Bay Ridge Art and Culture Alliance (BRACA) also organized a Culture Wave—a procession of dance and music designed to “show the general public just how much the community has to offer,” according to organizer Victoria Hofmo.

The July 18 stroll stretched from 69th to 80th Streets, which will again be featured on Friday, July 25.

Then, the businesses along 80th to 90th Streets will have their turn on Friday, August 8 and Friday, August 15.

All Summer Strolls are held from 6 to 10 p.m. For more information, visit www.SummerStrollOnThird.com.
