Brooklyn celebrates grand opening of new BJ’s Wholesale Club

On Saturday, September 20, Brooklyn welcomed its newest warehouse club store, BJ’s Wholesale Club during its official grand opening event. It was a packed house throughout the day as customers lined up to sign up for the store’s membership, shop and try free samples of treats such as ice cream, cookies and coffee. Children were also able to enjoy the day with free face painting and balloon animals.

“The opening has been great. The community has welcomed us with open arms,” said Brooklyn BJ’s Wholesale Club General Manager Bernard Garrison. He was also pleased with the impressive turnout at the 135,700 square-foot space, 1752 Shore Parkway. “If you look around, you can see a big turnout. Customers can expect quality and value.”

Judging from early reactions, the customers were pleased with the products and customer service. “I think it’s good. My husband is enjoying the free samples. I love they have all the baked goods and stuff like that. They do have a huge variety and I think as it gets closer to the holidays, it’s going to be really crowded,” said Peggy B.

“It’s very nice. This is the first time I’ve shopped at a BJ’s Warehouse. My husband is on line getting a membership. I like they allow you to use all your credit cards. That’s a plus. We’ll definitely be coming here often,” added Geri D.

According to Garrison, the new warehouse also offers a unique and impressive bakery section. “Once you walk around, you’ll see in our bakery, it’s entirely kosher. In our fresh department, we have a huge selection of kosher food.”

The views outside the warehouse as well as the polished interior have also impressed customers. “They’re certainly keeping it very clean as they’re working. It is quite large. It’s nice to come and explore this brand new store,” added Rita D.

In addition, in short order, BJ’s has already made significant contributions to the community, giving donations to not-profit organizations such as Reaching-Out Community Services. It also has donated money to six local elementary schools as part of BJ’s Adopt-a-School program.

“We look forward to establishing strong relationships within the community and supporting our Adopt-a-Schools and community partners,” said Garrison.
