Brooklyn to see fifth annual Massey Knakal Brooklyn Real Estate Summit

The fifth annual Massey Knakal Brooklyn Real Estate Summit is just around the corner. The annual event will once again bring together top retail, condo, multifamily and office players for a full-day event focused on the real estate trends of Brooklyn on Tuesday, September 16.

“For the first half of this year, the dollar volume of commercial building sales in Brooklyn topped $3 billion,” lauded Director of Conference Production Jonathan Olver on just what makes the summit stand out. “East New York is the first target area for the city’s affordable housing plan. Brooklyn’s real estate landscape is drastically changing in all aspects. People should take notice of this event as it is the first event where [Deputy Mayor and Keynote Speaker] Alicia Glen will outline Housing New York to developers.”

There’s no doubt that Affordable Housing will be on display this year, Olver said.

“I think affordable housing is one of the most exciting topics for Brooklyn as a borough,” he said, noting that both Glen and developers like Jonathan Rose and MaryAnn Gilmartin will present on the topic throughout the day.

This time around, the all-day summit will take place at the Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway), a spot Olver called a symbol for the booming borough.

“The Brooklyn Museum is a symbol for how Brooklyn has shifted to a place where people live, work and play, and also the cultural power of the borough,” he said. “The cultural brand of the borough is international, and that is increasing investment and development in equal measure.”

With over 600 attendees already expected, the Massey Knakal Brooklyn Real Estate Summit will focus heavily this year on how Brooklyn developments shape the borough, with Glen diving deep into the idea of “One Love, One Brooklyn.”

“The event this year is focused on the developers and the politics behind them, be that the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Mayor de Blasio’s Housing New York plan or the fact that Brooklyn has more tech companies moving in than any other borough,” said Olver. “This shift from residential to tech hub is built from how developers have reshaped neighborhoods like Dumbo Heights, Industry City and Steiner Studios, to name a few.”

In addition to the keynote address, there will be a number of panels and workshops covering a wide range of topics from the office market to commercial debt financing, retail condos, and more – from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
