City launches first batch of .nyc domain names

Over 45 new .nyc websites have gone live, introducing the first batch of “Founder” websites that include “an eclectic mix of small businesses, well-known brands, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, artists, agencies and individuals embodying the spirit and opportunity of New York City,” according to Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Among the new .nyc domain name holders are the Brooklyn Music Festival, New York Historical Society, Pace University, NY Tech Meetup, LiveStream, Il Forno Bakery and Coalition for Queens.

The public can apply for a .nyc domain name beginning October 8. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis at www.OwnIt.nyc.
