Editorial: Save room for dessert

We are delighted to be able to support the efforts of Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams in bringing to fruition the 11th annual Dine in Brooklyn Restaurant Week.

Taking place from Monday, October 20 through Thursday, October 23 and Monday, October 27 through Thursday, October 30, the event serves a myriad of purposes.

It raises awareness of the borough’s fantastic dining options as it raises the profile of the individual restaurants that participate. It also encourages Brooklynites to try a nearby eatery or one they have been meaning to check out for a while, and at the same time inspires out-of-borough foodies to find out exactly why everyone is talking with so much enthusiasm about the burgeoning Brooklyn culinary scene.

This year, the gustatory event —  during which participating restaurants will be offering $25 prix fixe meals at dinner, with some also offering two-for-$15 lunch specials (tax and gratuity not included) — will be supported by a robust social media campaign.

This includes a mobile-friendly website (dineinbk.com) which allows diners to make on-the-go decisions, phone in hand. In addition, Dine in Brooklyn Week has dedicated Twitter (@dineinbk), Facebook (Facebook.com/DineinBk) and Instagram (@dineinbk) pages which will be updated during the two-week event, and where diners themselves can show off their special discoveries for the world to see.

All participating restaurants are also listed at Brooklyn-USA.org and HomeReporter.com, as well as in the pages of this newspaper.

With over 150 restaurants already signed up, and more coming on board every day, Dine in Brooklyn promises to be exciting for food-lovers and successful for restaurateurs, who will enjoy an unparalleled opportunity to strut their stuff and show off exactly what makes their eatery unique.

And, it’s not too late for eateries to join in. To get in on the action, call 718-238-6600 or email[email protected]. Restaurants and sponsors can also sign up on line, at dineinbk.com.

But, act quickly. Dine in Brooklyn Week is right around the corner, and it truly is an opportunity not to be missed.
