NYPD officers indicted for assault in Crown Heights

Police Officers David Afanador, 33, and Tyrane Isaac, 36, face charges of second and third-degree assault for allegedly assaulting 16-year-old Kahreem Tribble in Crown Heights during an arrest, reportedly for possession of marijuana.

The officers were caught on surveillance video on August 29 allegedly hitting Tribble in the mouth with a gun – allegedly breaking his teeth – and punching him in the face with a fist after Tribble had his hands up “in surrender.”

Such actions, said Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson, “not only violated his rights but also trampled their sworn oath to serve, protect and uphold the law.”
