Greenpoint YMCA hosts family fun-filled Winter Wonderland

Walking in a winter wonderland!

The wet and cold weather didn’t put a damper on the day for the 200-plus families that attended the Greenpoint YMCA-hosted Winter Wonderland event.

The celebration, which took place on the afternoon of Saturday, December 6, included a variety of winter and holiday-themed activities, such as games like pin the nose on the snowman and an igloo bouncy house. Attendees were also able to create their own snow globes during arts and crafts time.

The event was deemed a huge success according to organizers and employees. “At the Y, we understand the importance of families spending quality time together, and keeping kids active,” said Director of Communications and Fund Development, Tatiana Terzuoli. “That’s why we have regularly scheduled events around community like the Winter Wonderland holiday event. These events promote healthy activities, physical fitness and family time. It’s a fun-filled day for the whole family, and it’s free and open to all.”

In addition to the winter theme, kids were able to stay active despite the bad weather. The pool was open for business as well for family swim time.

Kids who showed up early to the event experienced Christmas early, as the first 100attendees received free toys, courtesy of Health Plus Amerigroup.

“It gives the families in the community, an opportunity to do things together as a family, and be a part of something bigger,” added YMCA employee Grecia Olivares-Diaz. “For the staff, it’s a privilege to be able to interact with our families and to provide these wonderful activities that they can enjoy together.”
