NYPD announces street closures for the viewing and funeral service for Detective Wen Jian Liu

The New York City Police Department today announces street closures related to the viewing and funeral service for Detective Wen Jian Liu. Street closures and parking restrictions are expected to cause traffic delays. The use of public transportation is highly recommended.

On Saturday, January 3rd beginning at 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday Evening, 65thStreet between 12th and 14th Avenues will be closed and there will be no parking.  Additionally, there will be no parking on 13th Avenue between 64th and 68th Streets

On Sunday, January 4th beginning at 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, 65th Street between 11th and 18th Avenues will be closed to vehicular traffic, there will be no parking, and pedestrian traffic will be limited.  Additionally, there will be no parking on 13th Avenue between 64th Street and Bay Ridge Parkway.

Media Access

Per the family’s request, no media will be permitted inside the funeral home.

Members of the media are reminded that NYPD press credentials must be worn and displayed at all times at or near police lines. NYPD credentialed members of the media covering the viewing and/or funeral service should arrive:

  • Saturday, January 3rd prior to 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, January 4th prior to 6 a.m.
  • Broadcast vehicles only, one per outlet, may park in the lot opposite the funeral home at 1275 65thStreet, Brooklyn.

A DCPI representative will be on site to assist with staging and parking.
