The Santander Bank near 86th Street and Bay 35th Street was broken into in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 29.
According to police reports, two unknown perps entered a neighboring store where they used power tools to “[break] through” the basement wall that connected to the bank.
According to a source who was at the scene, when cops from the 62nd Precinct arrived there, they drove around the back of the bank to discover the burglars’ getaway car – a 1999 white Dodge Durango with New York plates – speeding away from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
