Everything’s coming up Bay Ridge, proclaimed the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, April 22 when it paid the nabe a lengthy visit for a night of dining and networking at the Pearl Room, 8201 Third Avenue.
“What we’re doing tonight is a very small part of what the Chamber is,” explained Chamber President and CEO Carlo Scissura. “Networking is fun and it is critical but, remember, we are a direct service. We are here for you, because that’s what we’re about.”
Scissura talked up Third Avenue and its strong representation in the Merchants of Third Avenue.
“We are, of course, on Third Avenue which is one of the best places anywhere in New York City to eat, to shop, to drink, to party, to have fun, to do business,” he said. “They do more events than I can think of and they are known through the city as a very, very organized merchants association.”
Bob Howe, president of the Merchants of Third Avenue, was thrilled to welcome the Chamber to his hometown.
“To the Chamber, you are the glue that keeps all of us entrepreneurs and people together,” Howe said.
The Chamber encouraged all attendees to mingle, to sample some of The Pearl Room’s menu favorites and also to donate to Pietro’s Fight, a locally based organization dedicated to funding Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) research and finding a cure.
Scissura commended founders and Bay Ridge residents Dayna and Manni Scarso for their efforts in finding a cure for their five-year-old son Pietro.
“It truly is a wonderful cause,” Scissura said, “so please, I’m encouraging you to spend a little bit of your money on them tonight.”
