Brooklyn Education: P.S. 185 students bake cookies for soup kitchen

Students at P.S. 185 are learning about community awareness and the importance of helping and caring for others. Recently, Mrs. Mousis’ class baked cookies with Mrs. Gureli and delivered them to the CHiPS soup kitchen.

CHiPS is a Park Slope charity that serves the hungry and homeless.  The organization is supported by local churches, synagogues, civic groups and volunteers. The students were able to make a donation and learn new cooking skills at the same time!

For over 30 years, Xaverian has been fortunate to have the Very Rev. Eugene N. Pappas serve as the school’s Orthodox Theological Ministry instructor.  Father Pappas, a renowned ecumenist, educator, missionary and social activist, also serves as pastor at Three Hierarchs Church in Brooklyn. Twice a month, Xaverian’s Christian Orthodox students gather to grow in their faith and pray together.
