Thirteen defendants have been arrested and charged with selling or possessing narcotics in and around the Bushwick and Borinquen Plaza Housing Developments in East Williamsburg, announced District Attorney Ken Thompson and Police Commissioner William Bratton on Thursday, July 9.
The investigation – which began in October, 2014 – led undercover officers to make 27 purchases of crack-cocaine, heroin and marijuana from six of the charged defendants.
According to Thompson, one search warrant location saw the recovery of 68 glassine envelopes of heroin, up to 10 grams of crack-cocaine and over $2,000. Another search warrant saw the recovery of 49 grams of heroin.
The defendants are awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court. They, respectively, face between one to nine years in jail.
More arrests are expected as part of the ongoing investigation.
