68th Precinct Police Beat: perp fools female victim in lottery scam, thief steals nearly $2,000 at pharmacy

Between Thursday, September 3 and Friday, September 11, the 68th Precinct received reports of three burglaries and two grand larcenies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

DEMOLITION MAN
Cops say that an unknown perp entered a residence through the front window near Third Avenue and 86th Street on Monday, September 7 between 9:30  and 11:30 p.m. When the victim returned home, he found the apartment had been ransacked by the perp and its walls had been destroyed.

No arrests have been made.

BEDROOM THIEF
Cops report that on Thursday September 3 to September 10 between 2 and 3 p.m., an unknown person entered a residence near 13th and Ovington Avenues through the rear window. The victim returned to find that the perp had ransacked the apartment and removed $60 from the bedroom.

FOOT RACE
A woman returned home to her residence near Eighth Avenue and 65th Street on Friday, September 11 between 11:10 a.m. and 1:36 p.m , and discovered an unknown male perp leaving her apartment, according to cops. The victim chased the perp; however, he fled the scene on foot. The victim was uncertain if any property had been removed from the home.

FOOL’S GOLD
Between noon on Tuesday, September 8 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9  a woman living near 93rd Street and Shore Road was scammed by an unknown perp who called and told her that she was the winner of the lottery totaling $350,000, according to police. The perp then told the victim that she must withdrawal $14,000 from her bank account and direct deposit $7,000 into the perp’s account to receive the earnings. The victim was instructed to give the remaining $7,000 to the unknown perp in front of her building. The victim complied.

No arrests have been made

DON’T DO DRUGS
An unknown perp entered a drugstore near Fourth Avenue and 86th Street on Thursday, September 10 at approximately 2:10 p.m. and stole miscellaneous pharmaceuticals valued at approximately $1,821.
