72nd Precinct Police Beat: victim struck from behind with wooden bats, two victims stabbed in arms

Between Monday, September 7 and Monday, September 14, the 72nd Precinct received reports of one robbery, one burglary and three felony assaults. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

BAG IT

On Tuesday, September 8, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a man was sitting down near 36th Street and Fifth Avenue when a 25-year-old Hispanic male approached him and grabbed his duffle bag, which contained his cell phone,  a wallet and $25. The victim  chased the male perp. When he caught up to him, the perp retaliated by swinging the bag at the victim.

A suspect was arrested shortly afterward and charged with robbery.

PAIN IN THE GLASS

Two black males in their twenties were walking behind a 34-year-old white male on Monday, September 7 near Second Avenue and 47th Street at approximately 4 a.m. when one of them struck him with a glass bottle, causing cuts to his hands and arms. The victim was transferred to Lutheran Medical Center.

Two suspects were arrested and charged with felony assault

SWING AWAY

On Saturday, September 12 at approximately 3:30 a.m., a 47-year-old Hispanic male was walking near Fifth Avenue and 46th Street when two Hispanic males in the early twenties struck the victim with wooden bats.

Two arrests were made.

SCARY STABBING

A witness saw a male perp grabbed two people from behind and swung a knife at them on Monday, September 14 at approximately 4:15 a.m. near Fifth Avenue and 44th Street. One of the victims sustained severe lacerations to the hand and wrist. He was transferred to Lutheran Medical Center. The other victim was sliced on the hand

A suspect was apprehended by police at 49th Street and Fourth Avenue.
