The victim of an assault that took place last week outside of the Bushwick restaurant La Fogata, located at 1549 Gates Ave., has died, police said.
According to authorities, the deceased has been identified as Jose Guzman, 42, of Avenue L.
On August 24, Guzman was engaged in a verbal dispute with the suspect — described as a white male wearing a dark colored T-shirt, glasses and having blond hair — when he was beaten around the head and torso, law enforcement agents said.
Police said this incident has been upgraded to a homicide. The investigation is ongoing.
