Brooklyn-themed play to premiere around the country

A new play called “PROSPECT HIGH: BROOKLYN” will premiere in 23 high schools across the country starting this month, announced Roundabout Theatre Company and Education at Roundabout on Wednesday, September 9.

Conceived by Daniel Robert Sullivan (formerly Tommy DeVito in “Jersey Boys”) and co-written by a team of New York City teenagers, the play focuses on four smart, highly charged students and one “seriously apathetic teacher” and, according to creators, was dreamt up in hopes of offering true-to-life material to teenage actors.

“The National New Play Network introduced the concept of a rolling world premiere in 1998, and I’ve always thought it would be great to offer that kind of arrangement to high schools,” said Sullivan. “There is so much energy and power in teenage theatre-makers, but that positive force is often felt only locally. By introducing this fierce new play to the nation’s high schools in a coordinated way, Roundabout is not only promoting the play with positive publicity, but the schools themselves.”

Curtains will close on “PROSPECT HIGH: BROOKLYN” in spring of 2016 at Roundabout’s Black Box Theater in Manhattan.
