68th Precinct Police Beat: Wallet lifted at local department store; woman sees thief exiting her bathroom

Between Monday, October 12 and Saturday, October 18, the 68th Precinct received reports of four burglaries and one grand larceny. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

UNLUCKY 13

According to police, an unknown perp broke into a residence near 13th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway by breaking through the front door on Friday, October 16, between 8:40 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. When the owner of the home, an Asian man, returned, he noticed that two of his laptops, an iPad, several credit cards, jewelry and $5,000 were missing.

No arrests have been made.

NOTHING IS SAFE

On Friday, October 16, an Asian man came home to discover that, between 8:40 a.m. and 3:40 p.m., an unknown perp had entered his residence on 64th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues through an unknown entrance and stolen $650 and a safety deposit box.

INSULT TO INJURY

A perp broke into a home on 86th Street between Third and Fourth Avenues through the front door on Saturday, October 17 between 1:10 and 3 p.m. When the male victim returned home, he noticed that his bedroom had been ransacked and clothes, credit cards, a Samsung tablet and $825 had been stolen.

No arrests have been made.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT

A woman told police that an unknown perp broke into her house on Third Avenue and 77th Street through the front door on Sunday, October 18 at approximately 3 a.m. When she arrived home, the woman heard the perp outside her bedroom and saw him exiting her bathroom. The male perp then fled the home, but not before stealing $60, according to cops.

BAG IT

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Monday, October 12, a woman was shopping at a department store near Fifth and Bay Ridge Avenues when she noticed that her bag was unzipped and her wallet missing.
