Fashion Week Brooklyn, the borough’s official opportunity to strut its stylish stuff, is right around the corner.
The spring/summer 2016 collections — to be unveiled between October 19 and 25 — have taken the theme “Destination Brooklyn,” which according to FWBK, provides an opportunity for “showcasing the diversity of talent, spaces, art, and fashion of underprivileged and upcoming designers.”
Shows featuring styles for women, men and children will be held in various Downtown Brooklyn areas.
The public events include the “Handmade Abstract” exhibit at BRIC Arts Media House, 647 Fulton Street, and the “Beauty for Freedom” exhibit hosted by Art in Motion at Brooklyn Law School, 250 Joralemon Street, both open the entire week.
Denim Day NYC returns to fashion week with a fundraiser entitled “Denim Night Out” which is set to bring awareness to the crimes of sexual assault and violence. The event will be hosted at Habana Outpost Café, 757 Fulton Street, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on October 23, and is open to the public.
