One of New York’s most iconic sandwich shops is borough-hopping.
According to reports, Katz’s Deli – a century-old Lower East Side delicatessen perhaps best known for its hot pastrami sandwich – will open its premiere outpost inside the still-under-construction revival of the Dekalb Market in Downtown Brooklyn.
This will be the first time Katz’s Deli – a New York City staple since 1888 – will expand beyond its sole East Houston Street shop.
The Dekalb Market – an outdoor dining and retail complex that, in June, got the boot from incoming developers – has since found a new home in the basement of City Point (1 DeKalb Avenue), the multi-use building set to take its place.
The site will be home to more than 50 vendors, as well as a Trader Joe’s, according to New York Eater, and is slated to open sometime next year.
