Between Thursday, September 24 and Monday, September 28, the 72nd Precinct received reports of three robberies and one burglary. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.
UNFRIENDLY MEET AND GREET
On Saturday, September 26 at approximately 5:45 a.m., a 37-year-old man was walking near Caton Place and East Eighth Street to meet up with some friends when seven Hispanic men approached him. According to cops, one of the perps whacked the victim in the head with a metal bar and stole money from his pocket. The perps then fled on scooters towards Church Avenue.
The victim was treated for injuries by EMS. No arrests have been made
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
According to police, a Hispanic man was walking near Fifth Avenue and 48th Street on Saturday, September 5 at approximately 9 p.m. when a Hispanic man in his thirties approached the victim and pushed him from behind. The perp then stole the victim’s iPhone and Beats headphones before fleeing the scene.
Out of fear, the victim waited until Monday, September 28 to report the crime to police.
Cops found and arrested a suspect the same day.
FANNY PACK THIEVES
On Sunday, September 27 at approximately 12:15 a.m. near Fifth Avenue and 48th Street, a 50-year-old Asian woman was walking home when two unknown perps accosted her. After demanding money, cops say, one of the perps grabbed the victim’s fanny pack while the other perp was on the lookout. The two perps fled after the victim began to scream.
The perps managed to steal credit cards, $110 and a Metrocard.
No arrests have been made.
RAISE THE ROOF
According to the police, a 31-year-old white female left her apartment near Sixth Avenue and Fourth Avenue on Thursday, September 24 at approximately 9 a.m. to go to work. While she was gone, an unknown perp entered the residence through the roof and stole necklaces and pendants.
When the victim returned, she discovered that the front door had also been kicked open.
No arrests have been made.
