Sailor’s Carnival was full steam ahead despite windy weather

Ahoy, mates!

Family-friendly, nautically-inspired events carried the day on Saturday September 26, when Councilmember Vincent Gentile partnered with the Waterfront Alliance to host a Sailor’s Carnival on the 69th Street Pier.

The event, according to Gentile, was “An attempt to remind people how close we are to the waterfront and to just engage them in how beautiful the vista is. We had some games and crafts all in a nautical theme. I thought it worked well.”

Despite the weather, the turnout was “decent,” according to Gentile’s Chief of Staff John Mancuso, who explained, “We had mini golf set up for the kids, plus crafts and other activities.”

Although the event had to end a little earlier than planned, Mancuso added, “The people who came out for the carnival still got to enjoy it.”
