Van breaks out in flames on Fourth

A car fire broke out and was quickly extinguished by firefighters near the corner of Fourth Avenue and 97th Street on Monday, October 12.

FDNY units had the blaze, which started at around 4:30 p.m. and engulfed a white van in flames, under control before 4:45.

While the cause has yet to be determined, spectators watched as smoke made its way at least one block in each direction.

No one appeared to be injured on the scene and the fire is under investigation.
