68th Precinct Police Beat: Another gunpoint robbery, this time near 12th Avenue and 71st Street

Between Sunday, November 1 and Wednesday, November 4, the 68th Precinct received reports of one robbery, two burglaries and one grand larceny. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

GUNPOINT ROBBERY

Wielding a gun and demanding money, two white men assaulted and robbed a man walking on the corner of 12th Avenue and 71st Street on Sunday, November 1 at approximately 11:05 p.m.

According to cops, the perps pointed the gun at the victim and demanded money. When he didn’t comply, both perps struck him to the ground, then punched and kicked him.

They stole his wallet and cellphone from his pockets and fled the scene on foot.

EMPTY-HANDED BURGLARY

A bar near Fifth Avenue and 67th Street was broken into in the early morning hours of  Monday, November 2. Police say that, at approximately 4:15 a.m., an unknown perp broke into the watering hole by breaking open the rear door. Video surveillance shows an unknown person carrying tools around the building.

No property was stolen and no arrests have been made.

WATER BOARDING

A water meter and copper pipes were stolen from a home near Ovington and Fourth Avenues on Wednesday November 4 at approximately 4:05 p.m. According to police, the unknown person entered the premises through a rear basement door. When the victim returned to the residence, he discovered the theft.

The theft was caught on surveillance, but no arrests were made.

STEAL AND RUN

A woman walking on the corner of 10th Avenue and 63rd Street on Wednesday, November 4 at approximately 3:39 p.m. had her cell phone stolen by an unknown man, who ran up from behind her, grabbing it from her hand and fleeing on foot.
