72nd Precinct Police Beat: Victim falls down stairs during altercation, on life support

Between Tuesday, October 27 and Friday, October 31, the 72nd Precinct received reports of three assaults and one burglary. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

BRUTAL FALL

On Tuesday, October 27 at approximately 10:55 p.m., cops say a 47-year-old Hispanic man approached a man inside a building near 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, and began punching and kicking his body. Mid-altercation, according to police, the perp caused the victim to fall down a flight of stairs. As a result, he suffered fractures on the right side of his head and is currently on life support at NYU Lutheran Medical Center.

A suspect was arrested the same day.

UNHAPPY HALLOWEEN

A perp wielding a metal pipe struck another man in the right leg , according to cops. On Saturday, October 31, police say, a 16-year old boy approached the victim near Sixth Avenue and 49th Street at approximately 8:13 p.m. and took a swing .

He was later arrested on assault charges.

BEDTIME

Cops say a 32-year-old white woman threw a glass at her partner after an argument over when their children should go to bed. The angry exchange occurred on Tuesday, October 30 at approximately 12 a.m. near Prospect Park West and 17th Street. The man sustained cuts to the side of his face.

No arrests have been made.

SNEAKER HEAD

Cops say that on Tuesday, October 27, at approximately 3:30 p.m. a 15-year-old boy returned to his home near Fourth Avenue and 49th Street only to discover that an unknown perp had broken into through the window and removed five pairs of Nike sneakers worth approximately $1,000, along with a bag of assorted items worth approximately $300.

No arrests have been made.
