A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 24 years to life in prison in connection to a 2014 robbery in which he pointed a pistol at a man’s four-year-old daughter’s head and threatened to shoot had the victim not handed over his Rolex, announced District Attorney Ken Thompson on Thursday, December 10.
According to trial testimony, on May 13, 2014, 46-year-old William Hogue approached Raymond Muscat, a Flatbush resident who was with his two daughters, ages three and four, near his East 35th Street home and demanded his jewelry. When Muscat hesitated, Hogue turned the gun on the older daughter.
“Pointing a gun at an innocent child’s head was an outrageous and cowardly act,” said Thompson. “This defendant, who has a long criminal history, including for violent crimes, must remain in prison for the rest of his life to protect the public. There’s no question about that.”
According to information presented at sentencing, Hogue is a mandatory persistent violent felony offender who has spent 20 of the last 26 years in prison. During his six years out of prison, he continued his life of crime, earning nine convictions, four of which were for violent felonies.
