Bushwick man arrested for department store shooting

A Bushwick man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man at a department store last month, police said.

Noel Baez, 20, of Palmetto Street has been charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment for his involvement in the November 16 non-fatal shooting outside of the Blue City department store, located at 452 Knickerbocker Ave., which sent one man to the hospital.

According to authorities, Baez was engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim at the department store, when the argument turned violent, police stated. Baez then fired a single shot from a 9mm Glock handgun, striking the victim in the torso.

Following an investigation, Baez was taken into custody Sunday by the 83rd Precinct Detective Squad.

According to a spokesperson for Kings County District Attorney Ken Thompson, Baez was arraigned on Nov. 30 and ordered held on $10,000 cash bail, or $50,000 bond; he is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 4.
