A man who was found badly beaten and unconscious inside an apartment building near Fourth Avenue and 61st Street on Monday, October 26 and pronounced dead on Wednesday, November 4, may have been murdered, according to police.
The victim, 25-year-old Sammy Garcia, was found by police at approximately 5 a.m., bleeding from the head. He was transferred to NYU Lutheran Medical Center, where he died 10 days after the incident.
On Wednesday, December 16, the death was re-classified by cops as a homicide following an investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
On Tuesday, October 27, 47-year-old Juan Zicay was arrested and charged with assault in regards to the incident.
According to cops, the investigation is ongoing.
