An East New York man has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for the 2013 shooting death of two men outside a Pennsylvania Avenue home, announced District Attorney Ken Thompson on Wednesday, December 2.
According to trial testimony, the defendant – 61-year-old Raul Correa – fired shots at the two men at around 8:30 p.m. on October 18 in retaliation for an assault earlier that evening.
The victims, however, were not involved in the earlier assault.
“This defendant shot and killed two men in an act of senseless gun violence,” said Thompson. “Today’s sentence holds this defendant accountable for his deadly, violent actions.”
Correa was convicted on November 12 of two counts of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon following a jury trial.
